Recap: Summer Vacation 2010

In August we visited our favorite vacation spot again - Old Forge, NY. It was great - as usual. It was extra fun this year because Sienna could enjoy it. She knew to stay away from the lake (this didn't keep us from panicking occasionally) and we loved our new oversized dock that was build last fall.

So we relaxed, ate ice cream, went for walks, and of course, played with marshmallow guns. Isn't what you do with your family on vacation?

Look out, Aunt Kerry!

After our week in Old Forge, Sienna, Pop Pop and I scooted over to North Fork, on Long Island in NY to spend time with the other side of the family. (We dropped Daniel off in Massachuetts to spend the week with his friend who was getting married in a week. Daniel was one of two " best men" so he was on wedding party duty.) So off we went to Long Island. North Fork has great fresh produce, delicious fruit pies and wineries. Wineries everywhere. So we packed lunches some afternoons and had a picnic at one of the wineries. Sienna was in heaven. We had egg salad, crackers, cheese, grapes - my picky-eater's favorites. And she got to eat it all outside. She could have stayed there all day.

We also visted Aldo's coffee shop in Greenport NY. The coffee is SOOO good. My Aunt T and I took Sienna there, and I asked Mr. Aldo if he had any chocolate milk for the little one. He made this warm chocolate especially for Sienna...

I think she liked it.

We came back a few days later and I thought to bring a bib this time...

So we sipped coffee/chocolate, lunched at the wineries, went to the beach, and stopped to smell the flowers...it was a good week :)

Just to make things a little bit crazier, Sienna and I dropped off Pop Pop on the train and we went BACK up to Massachusetts for the wedding.

For those of you who were at our wedding, you may remember our friend Chris...he was the one wearing a black top hat and a silver Yankees necklace? (Yes, with our permission.) Here is a pic of his wedding day - our friends Chris & Stephanie on their wedding day. It was tricky getting there for their wedding day but we were so glad we could be there.

Customer Service

Whenever I call the customer service phone number for my bank, have to select about 27 choices from their menu options and then I am put on hold while I wait for the next available representative. While on hold, a recorded voice comes on the line every few minutes saying "We apologize for the unusual delay. Your call is important to us. The next available representative will be with you shortly." The thing that annoys me is the part is when they apologize for the unusual delay, because the customer service line says that EVERY time. I want to send them an email pointing out that it is not an "unusual" delay when it happens every single time. They should say "We apologize for the USUAL delay." At least they would be embracing the situation.

After thinking through my banking problems, I had to take some of my own advice. Frequently, I get on my blog and apologize for getting so behind on new updates, because "things have been so busy!" As if there is any time in my life that things have been so calm that I have cranked out 4 new blog posts? No. So I am embracing my situation and apologizing to all of you for the USUAL blog post delay. Your willingness to read my ridiculous posts is very important to me. Your new post will be with you shortly. Promise.

Thanks,
Management
