Home Sweet New Home

We finally moved into our new house a few weekends ago. Grandma & Pop Pop came down to help us move and we had some (ok, a lot) help from our friends Rachel & Jon. Everything has been going smoothly for the most part. Last week, however, we discovered that when it rains, none of our bathroom outlets worked. This was a serious situation because I rely on my hair dryer and flat iron to manage the craziness that is my hair. And Sienna told me that my hair was too big for my necklace. I am not really sure what that meant, but it couldn't have been good. Fortunately, Daniel figured out the problem quickly (so he didn't have to look at my frizzy horizontal beehive, probably) and all is well.

Here is our new house!

There is a little swing set in a common area behind our house and Sienna is a big fan.

Who knew swinging was so hilarious?

Fourth of July...a little late.

I know the 4th was several weeks ago, but I couldn't help sharing my favorite pic from Mooresville's Red, White & Boom festival.

Only the lonely...

We think Sienna might be a little bit lonely these days. I am not much of a shopper, but this happens whenever we go to a clothing store. Is it sad that her new friends are mannequins?

Apart from Sienna's need for some friends, she apparently needs new clothes. She is wearing the same outfit in all of the pictures even though it is two separate occasions. But we seem to be in a bit of a catch-22...if we go shopping to get her new clothes, we will spend the majority of the time holding hands with the mannequins. Who has time for this? I may need to start shopping online.

Tuesday

Memory Game

Sienna likes to play "Memory" but her favorite part is finding all of the cards with pictures of food so she can pretend to eat them.

Yesterday's game...

Me: "How about the apple? Should we eat the apple?"
Sienna: "Hmm - Maybe. Because I eat apples but I don't like to eat snakes."

Thursday

More Dancin'

Sienna LOVES dancing. I know that we all aware of this, however as many her interests have been short lived, dancing seems to be here to stay. This is Sienna (in her bathing suit - it's a long story) watching a TV show on Nick Jr. called Fresh Beat Band. From what I can gather, it is a show about four teenager who are in music school or something and they break out in song/dance throughout the episode. We saw it the other day and Sienna was loving it. She kept watching, then dancing, then watching, then dancing....and repeat. This video starts with Sienna dancing for about 2 seconds. Then she stops dancing and watching again for about a full minute or so. I am preparing you for this, because she sits still for probably the majority of the video. But then she gets her groove back on then I think it is definitely worth watching. But then...I'm the Mom.

I can't get this to load as a video - click here!

Wednesday

North Carolina!

As you probably know, we started our moving-to-North-Carolina process about a month ago. We left Virginia and moved what could fit into suitcases to move to Daniel's grandparents (Pop & Ranny) house in Mooresville, NC. Sienna has had a little bit of difficulty adapting to so much, but for the most part, all is well.

We arrived in town on Mother's Day Weekend. We had a delicious brunch at a local diner, but these photos are taken before the meal. This is Sienna hanging out in the parking lot (with Mommy, of course!) when I saw some signs of tantrum-ness brewing and I suggested taking a walk before all broke loose.

In her defense, the food took over an hour after we ordered it. We were trying to cover up our DC attitude and not notice the food was taking forever, but the North Carolina group we were with commented on the long wait so it was ok for us to agree.

The first week we were here, we found a great park. It is only about 10 minutes away and it is perfect for Sienna. When it isn't too crowded, I get to sit on a bench and watch her since I can keep her in my view wherever she is on the playground. Let's be honest, though - Sienna rarely lets me sit, but I am grateful for those infrequent times when I can. (These pics were taken with my iPhone which explains the quality...)

Ranny & Pop have a boat and we have all enjoyed taking rides on Lake Norman. It starts to thunderstorm pretty much every time we get on the boat, but it's still fun...

She's spoiled wherever she goes. Here is her new pool for the backyard. Thank you Ranny & Pop!
